Real-World Teaching Assignment Information
In addition to proctoring practicums, some of you have been asked to help secure a teaching location for the online student in a nearby Good News Club or 5-Day Club where real-world teaching assignments can be completed. If you agreed to do this, the following information will be helpful to you as you make plans.
- The Club should not be a preschool club as TCE Level 1 trains students to teach kids between five and twelve years old.
- A background check has not been completed prior to enrollment in this course. If the student is teaching in a Good News Club or 5-Day Club, the local office will need to complete a background check before the student attends the first club.
- Students will be using the Turned Around Starter Kit for TCE Level 1. Anything from this series can be taught in Good News Club for real-world teaching assignments. If other curriculum is currently being used and should be taught instead, provide the student with the material in advance so that adequate preparation can take place. BE SURE that the Bible Lesson that is assigned is an evangelistic Bible lesson and the memory verse is an evangelistic verse.
- The student will need to complete five real-world teaching assignments during the course. One (possibly two) of them is a teaching of the Wordless Book. This teaching assignment does not have to be in a Good News Club or 5-Day Club setting. The student may choose to teach it to an individual child in a different setting. The needed practicums are as follows:
Week 6 (February 16-22, 2021): First Real-World Teaching Assignment (The Wordless Book or an evangelistic Scripture Memory Verse. The Wordless Book may be done one-on-one.)
Week 7 (February 23-March 1, 2021): Second Real-World Teaching Assignment (The Wordless Book or an evangelistic Scripture Memory Verse or an evangelistic Song)
Week 8 (March 2-8, 2021): Third Real-World Teaching Assignment (The Wordless Book or an evangelistic Scripture Memory Verse or an evangelistic Song or Prayer Time)
Week 9 (March 9-15, 2021): Fourth Real-World Teaching Assignment (The Wordless Book or an evangelistic Scripture Memory Verse or an evangelistic Song or Prayer Time)
Week 11 (March 23-29, 2021): Fifth Real-World Teaching Assignment (evangelistic Bible lesson)
Be sure to communicate with the student in advance regarding the club location, time, etc as well as the teaching assignments. If for some reason a teaching assignment cannot be completed during a specific week above, please contact the online instructor before the assignment due date so that other arrangements can be worked out. There is some flexibility in the real-world teaching assignments, but students must teach children in separate five separate real-world settings. The Wordless Book, an evangelistic Scripture Memory Verse and an evangelistic Bible lesson must each be included in at least one of these real-world teaching opportunities. Before teaching The Wordless Book, an evangelistic Scripture Memory Verse and an evangelistic Bible lesson to children, the student must have successfully completed the corresponding practicum.
