Real-world Teaching Assignments Copy

Five separate real-world teaching times are required as part of the TCE Level 2 course. These teaching times will enable you to immediately put into practice the course theory with actual children in a classroom setting. These teaching times will take place during weeks 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12.

The preferred teaching location is a Good News Club. This setting will provide hands-on ministry to children outside the church who do not benefit from regular discipleship. There are Good News Clubs taking place in local areas around the world. Your proctor will be able to help you locate a Good News Club near you to see if you are able to participate in it during this course. Note: CEF policy requires that participants in a Good News Club have a background check completed prior to attending club. Your proctor will walk you through this process. If there is not a Good News Club near you, you will need to secure a teaching location yourself. Follow the guidelines below to secure an appropriate teaching location if this is the case.

Good News Club is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship. It is a Bible club that meets for approximately one hour a week during the school year. Its emphasis is to reach and teach children outside of the local church.

Securing a Real-world Teaching Assignment Location
If a Good News Club could not be secured for you by the CMI Online team or your proctor, you are responsible to secure another teaching location. The following tips will help you find an appropriate location.

The teaching location should…

  • include children between the ages of 5-12. These are the ages most appropriate to the course methods being taught.
  • provide enough time for you to teach according to the methods presented in this course (see chart below)
  • be available during the necessary weeks according to the course schedule
  • allow you to teach the type of lessons required (see chart below)

You must have a real-world teaching location in place before the course begins. There will be an assignment the first week that requires you to describe the setting in which you plan to complete your real-world teaching assignments. Use the downloadable chart below to help you keep track of your real-world teaching commitments!
