Proctor/Practicum Information Copy

Proctor Explanation
Two separate practicums are required as part of your TCE Level 2 requirements. These practicums will enable you to put into practice the course theory in a controlled environment BEFORE using the methods with children in a classroom setting. These practicums will take place during weeks 6 and 8.

You will have an approved proctor meet with you for both of these practicums. Your proctor will be given an observation sheet to use during your presentation to make notes regarding both the content and delivery of the presentation. The proctor will then submit these observation sheets to the online instructor who will use them to assign a grade for each practicum. This process parallels the process used for on-campus students and will ensure the academic integrity of the practicum time for online students.

The preferred proctor is one who is already familiar with the teaching methods taught in the course. This knowledge will enable him or her to provide better feedback and assistance along the way as needed. There are individuals in local areas around the world that have taken this course and could serve as proctors. The CMI Online team has made contact with people near you to see if there is anyone who could serve as your proctor. Below you will find a Proctor Chart outlining what was found.

Open the chart below and locate your name. If a proctor was found near you, the name and contact information for the individual is included in the chart. If no one was found nearby, you will need to contact the online administrator for instructions.

Proctor Confirmation

Once an individual has agreed to serve as your proctor, you will need to complete the following four steps. Steps 1-3 should be completed BEFORE the course begins. You are encouraged to complete Step 4 as soon as possible.

1. Contact the proctor and confirm that he/she is available during the specific weeks that practicums will take place during the course. For Teaching Children Effectively Level 2, practicums will take place during weeks 6 and 8. While practicums may take place at any time during these weeks, waiting until the end of the course-week (Saturday-Monday) will provide you with more time to prepare for the practicum.

2. Give the proctor the following Proctor Confirmation document that outlines the steps he/she needs to take before the course begins. These steps include submitting a Proctor Agreement Form and creating a user account at CMI Online in order to access the Proctor Course and locate needed instructions and documents for each practicum.

Please email the form or print and deliver it immediately to your proctor.

3. Submit the Student Agreement Form below. This serves as your confirmation that a proctor has been secured. This form should be submitted BEFORE the course begins.

After completing the Student Agreement Form, upload it in the Assignments block below.

4. Work out details with your proctor regarding when and where you will meet for each practicum. This can be worked out before the course begins for all practicums or for each one individually as the date gets closer. The form below will help both you and the proctor keep these details clear once they are decided.
